Durning the 1st year for working at Marico as an Executive Trainee, I was posted at the Kanjikode factory, in the Crushing & Filling Operations. Intensive trainings in TQM, Quality tools etc, helped improve my problem solving skills.
The 2nd year of service saw me working as a Production Executive handling in house filling and sub contracts. It was here that I got exposed to Employee Relations Processes Loan Committee, Wage Revision Team, etc.
In 1998 saw, I was moved to moved to Oil Mill Maintenance, as a part of the structured job rotation plan for executives. Experimentation, innovation and a chance to developing a team, all mounted to being the most satisfying stints of my career.
In 2000, I got transferred to PQA as its head with a special focus on achieving Quality Certification in the company for the first time. Other challenges included handling of the two different streams of packaging and product quality. Apart from the training I got in Italy, the coaching and mentoring received from the superiors was longstanding and noteworthy.
2002, I was promoted as Manager and got transferred to Jalgaon where I got exposed to Edible Oil Refining and the opportunity to be a part of the pilot Six Sigma Team. Since 2004, I have been posted to the Mumbai Office in charge of handling Corporate Quality Assurance, giving me a perspective of top down approach & outside – in view of quality.
My stint in Marico has been very satisfying with immense learning opportunities. Being able to shoulder a great deal of responsibility at a very early stage and the open work environment is something that always made me at ease. |

| 2) Padmanabh Maydeo - VJTI, Mumbai 1994 - (Production Manager, Jalgaon) |
|
I began my career as an Executive Trainee, with the Kanjikode plant in Kerala. In Kanjikode I learnt how culture building can help engage the workforce and how an engaged workforce can deliver results despite all odds. It also taught me the importance of effective communication as an important tool in practicing HR. After completion of a couple of projects I went on to shoulder responsibilities in an Oil Mill, thereafter maintenance, finally moving to a factory in Goa, in 1998.
In Goa, as the Manager, I was given the responsibility of setting up an In-house Blow-molding and Printing facility. I was independently handling all the aspects of the project including Recruitment of operator etc. which was a brilliant experience. I was exposed to diverse projects, right from Packaging to Third Party Operations and even involvement in Concept Generation to Implementation.
Currently, handling the manufacturing operations, maintenance as well as projects, I got an opportunity to learn about a totally new field – From Coconut Oil to Edible oil processing.
On the whole my journey with Marico has been that of opportunities to learn new things and the opportunity to take on higher responsibilities and grow with the growing organization! |
